What is a Wedding Insurance Policy?
A wedding insurance policy is a specialty insurance package designed to provide financial protection for a couple who wish to insure specific risks relating to their wedding, during specified periods leading up to and including your wedding day. Our wedding insurance provides cover for wedding cancellation or rearrangement, theft of or damage to ceremonial attire, accident, fire or theft of or damage to wedding gifts, theft or damage to wedding rings, wedding cake, wedding flowers and gifts for attendants as well as loss of deposits subject to the policy terms and conditions.

What is the main difference between the various cover levels?
We offer 8 tiers of cover with limits ranging from £5,000 to £50,000. When considering which cover to purchase it is important to consider the amount in total which will be spent on the wedding and select a cover that will meet with your budget. You can find out more about our cover levels here.
Do Covermywedding policies provide cover for wedding rearrangement?
Yes - Cover is provided for wedding rearrangement up to 75% of the original wedding cost. Rearrangement cover is provided to reimburse reasonable additional costs incurred in rearranging your wedding ceremony and/or wedding reception to a similar standard of your original budget. For example, our Tier 4 cover which covers weddings up to £20,000, would provide up to 75% (£15,000) of the original wedding costs for rearrangement.

What types of losses are covered by the policy?
This wedding insurance policy provides cover for the following different categories and types of potential loss or damage:
- Cancellation or Rearrangement
- Ceremonial Attire

- Wedding and Attendant’s Gifts
- Wedding Cars and Transport
- Photography and Video

Will this policy provide cover if the weather forces us to postpone or relocate our wedding?
Yes, our wedding insurance policy will provide cover if adverse weather conditions prevent the marrying couple or at least 50% of their wedding guests from attending the wedding or reception.

If the either of the marrying couple, or a close relative falls ill or has an accident before the wedding, will the policy provide coverage?
Yes, our Wedding Insurance Policy will provide cover if the wedding and/or reception is postponed due to a serious illness or bodily injury that prevents either of the marrying couple from attending. Close relatives are covered if a serious illness or bodily injury occur within 3 months of the arranged wedding date and prevents them from attending.
Please note: There is no cover under any section of the wedding insurance policy for any claim caused directly or indirectly or contributed to or by the marrying couple or close relative:
- acting against the advice of a medical practitioner (or would have been if their advice had been sought) at any time during the period of insurance;
- suffering any medical condition on or in the 12 months prior to the date of buying the wedding insurance policy, for which the marrying couple or close relative have received treatment or for which the marrying couple or close relative are awaiting results of tests or medical investigations;
- suffering any medical condition on or in the 12 months prior to the date of buying the wedding insurance policy for which the marrying couple or close relative are on a hospital waiting list for treatment;
- having a medical condition on the date of buying the wedding insurance policy for which the marrying couple or close relative have received a terminal prognosis;
- suffering anxiety, stress or depression or any other mental or nervous disorder (unless admitted as an inpatient to a hospital and a medical practitioner specialising in that specific and relevant field, produces documentation to support a claim);
- willfully or self-inflicting injury.

What happens if either of the marrying couple decides to change their mind before the wedding?
If the wedding does not go ahead because either of the marrying couple changes their mind, this is called disinclination and is unfortunately not covered by this insurance.
How far in advance should I purchase my Covermywedding.co.uk policy for my wedding to be covered?
You should purchase the wedding insurance policy as soon as you start to incur costs such as placing deposits with a venue, caterer, etc. However, a Covermywedding.co.uk wedding policy cannot be purchased later than 30 days before your wedding or earlier than 24 months prior to your wedding. Please note: There is no cover for losses of payments/deposits paid more than 60 days before purchasing this insurance policy.
Does my Covermywedding.co.uk policy cover weddings outside of the United Kingdom?
We are able to provide cover for weddings being held in the following countries: Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Cyprus, Ireland, Malta and Greece. You will need to let us know when you set up your policy the location of your wedding. There is no liability cover, or marquee cover available for overseas weddings.

Does my Covermywedding.co.uk policy provide any coverage for my honeymoon expenses?

If we lose our wedding rings, are they covered?
Yes, if your wedding rings are lost at any time during the 7 days preceding the wedding and 24 hours after. They are covered up to the selected cover tier and the applicable sum insured detailed within the schedule of benefits within the wedding insurance policy.

Is my engagement ring covered by my Covermywedding.co.uk policy?
No. Our wedding insurance policy only provides cover for the wedding bands to be exchanged during the ceremony, not for an engagement ring. It is recommended that you insure your rings separately e.g. on your household policy.

Does my Covermywedding.co.uk policy cover all wedding presents, including cash and vouchers, etc.?
Yes, we will pay up to the amount stated in the schedule of benefits (subject to a maximum payment of £250 for any one item and a maximum payment as detailed in the policy wording for accident, fire or theft of or damage to wedding gifts while being stored by marrying couple or their close relative. Cover starts 7 days prior to the wedding ceremony and ends 24 hours after that date.

What happens if our photographer does not show up and a replacement is not available?
A Covermywedding.co.uk policy will cover the cost of re-convening the wedding party on another day within 90 days after the wedding ceremony and/or reception, for the purpose of taking new wedding photographs, up to the applicable sum insured set forth on your specific Covermywedding.co.uk policy. There is also a time limit on damage occurring to your wedding cake if your plan is to take the pictures of you cutting your wedding cake.

Are we covered if the photography is damaged or does not come out?
Yes, this policy provides cover for the loss or damage to the original film or the negatives before the finished photographs are received, up to the applicable sum insured set forth on your specific Covermywedding.co.uk policy.

Am I covered if the Bride’s wedding dress or the Groom’s tuxedo is damaged before the wedding?
Yes, this policy provides cover for ceremonial attire that is stolen, or damaged before the wedding, except for theft or damage resulting from ceremonial attire left in any unattended vehicle or failure to report the loss to police.

Does a Covermywedding.co.uk Policy have an excess?
Yes, there is a nominal £35.00 excess deducted for each covered section except for Marquee extension, which is £100.00. You may also choose to purchase optional excess waiver for an additional premium which will reduce the excess to zero for all sections, excluding Marquee cover.

Does my Wedding Insurance provide Personal Liability cover?
Personal liability cover is provided in respect of the marrying couple only and will provide indemnity for their legal liability arising from accidental bodily injury to third parties or the accidental loss of or damage to third party property directly related to the wedding.
Please note: There is no liability cover for weddings being held overseas.
For weddings being held in the UK, additional extended Public Liability cover is available on Tiers 2 to 8 at an additional premium to include cover for any persons invited to the Wedding or Wedding Reception by you.
How can I enhance my cover?
Our policies offer a range of optional extras that you can choose to add to your policy for extra peace of mind and protection. These can be added at additional cost and include Excess Waiver, Marquee Extension and Public Liability Extension*
*Liability is not covered for weddings that take place overseas.
If I need to change my venue or dates, can I do this once my policy has started?
You can make amendments to your policy provided no claims have been made or are pending or outstanding on your current policy and the new date of your wedding reception must occur within no more than 21 days of your wedding ceremony. What do you mean by UK resident?
A resident of the United Kingdom is someone who is permanently residing in the United Kingdom and has been for the past six months prior to the issue date of your policy and is registered with Medical Practitioner in the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom means England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We cannot offer cover for residents of the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.
